When people ask what I do, I sometimes say that I’m a freelance graphic designer for simplicity… but I‘m not just a graphic designer, and by industry standards, I’m not really a freelancer.
A creative freelancer will usually go in to creative agencies who have big paying clients, and work on projects that the agency is having trouble with and can’t manage with their salaried staff for whatever reason. I’ve done that kind of freelancing in the past, but it’s not what I do now. Big agencies charge big money, and there is almost never a relationship between the client and the person doing the creative work for them.
Since moving to the U.S. in 2014, I’ve been fortunate enough to gain the trust of a number of businesses– becoming an honorary member of their team. I have a highly transparent and collaborative approach to my work, and tailor each project specifically to realizing my client’s ideas and dreams for their business.
My background and training is in visual communication / graphic design and advertising, but I’ve also worked in a more traditional marketing role in promotions, and my current clients / jobs range from purely social media management to full creative direction.
